Walk the 'Cala de la Granadella'

Benitatxell (Alicante, España)

Do I really belong here? I am fighting my way up the hill step by step. Behind us lies a strenuous hike over rugged and pointed rocks. More than eight kilometers. My strength is waning, and with it my concentration.

Apart from the settlement, which despite all its ostentation, the white boxes that all look the same somehow, seems lifeless and empty to me, it is the paths through the rugged nature that give me the feeling of life. But here I actually wonder whether I’m in the right place.

It may be because we have taken a route that is difficult and challenging and even dangerous in places, so I can’t enjoy the climb and the view from up there at all. I’ve overstepped the mark, where the only thing that matters is getting back safely. By the time I do, I am completely exhausted, tired and relieved.
