Trégastel — Côtes-d’Armor (Bretagne, France)
The small peninsula Île Renote in Trégastel is less than 4 kilometers from our accommodation. The parking lot between Trégastel and Île Renote is our starting point. We walk just two kilometers through a landscape lined with pink stones and rocks, some of which look as if they have been arranged by a great artist. This is the first part of a larger walk in the area, but it is the most impressive.
The sea has receded far back and it seems as if you can climb over all the rocks without hesitation and discover completely new worlds. There is a castle in the distance, one in the colors of the surroundings, concealed only by the bare branches of the naked trees. Many of them are frozen by the storm that has swept over this area. Bent, cracked or completely torn out of the ground. They all point in the same direction, north-east. Whenever this storm was, it left its mark.
This hike will also leave its mark on us, of which I had no idea at the beginning. Back home and I am in a different state of exhaustion. This one is deep in the body, especially in the legs, thighs and calves, in the ligaments that are close to overstretching.
But it doesn’t stop there, it spreads further into my head. A deep tiredness overcomes me. I can’t help but give in to it. In the blink of an eye, I leave the world of conscious perception and am in the land of dreams. Only without having a dream.
I await a new day to be able to accept and feel the gratitude of this experience. Then, when my body and mind rise from this exhaustion, are freed from it and I can fall back on the many pictures I took on this beautiful day. The ones on my camera, but also the ones in my memory and, above all, the ones that have burned themselves into my soul.
