I’ve often wondered what lies behind the hill, this rocky outcrop of stone and dried bushes. Today I found out. It’s the same as on this side, only more pretentious, sometimes more pompous, definitely fuller and narrower.

A haven for the wealthy. I imagine there are enough owners there who don’t consider themselves rich. I’m sure there are also one or two who justify their ownership by claiming they’ve earned it through hard work.

I know many people who work hard, but hardly any of them can afford something like this. Not even us. Or maybe we can? The thought doesn’t go far, because even if we could afford it, we’d never do it. I don’t want to live here.

We won’t get far today. At least not to our actual destination. When we have to leave one of the paved roads, already with more than 4 kilometers in our legs, we decide to turn back. Fields of dense bushes with sharp thorns, black and bare from the last fire, with smooth and sharp rocks scattered between them.

All in all, no thanks.
