Walking Pointe de Brezellec in Kermeur
Cliffs that plunge into the sea. Fields with dense bushes adorned with golden-yellow blossoms, where the air is fragrant with coconut. These are the pearls of Brittany, the colors of this coast that I have never before perceived with such intensity. Here it is the first impression and a lasting one. Everywhere and on every slope.
The GR34 winds along this coast, often just a narrow path where one sometimes must balance. It offers unobstructed views of both the mainland and the deep blue sea. The ocean of dreams. Each time I am as if under hypnosis when my gaze travels across it toward the horizon. And every time, a force penetrates me, spreading absolute tranquility within.
From the coast, we turn inland, passing by lush fields until we reach the small village of Kermeur. It is nothing more than a narrow street lined with old stone houses. Four young sheep in a yard, two white and two black, that startle and leap away when they spot us. But not a person in sight.
Leaving the village, we return to the same road that brought us to the starting point of this hike. From there, we turn onto a field path. The sea is visible again, along with the winding coastal landscape. A magnificent sight. We then plunge into a small patch of woodland, densely grown with trees, shrubs, and grasses. And again and again, a shrub or a tree with blossoms in vibrant colors.
Then we reach the coast and the GR34 once more. It’s a similar scene to many routes, yet never the same. The paths along the GR34 are so diverse and multifaceted; it surprises me every time and leaves me in awe. I take great joy in this route as well. I carry this joy with me on the way back to our accommodation. A wonderful excursion.
