Review of the Movies „Dune: Part One and Two“
I haven’t read any of the books, so I was able to simply immerse myself in the sci-fi story. I’m not disappointed, but not completely thrilled either. The quality of the images is outstanding, the atmosphere fantastic. What impressed me most is how technology is used by people in these worlds to navigate their environment – and never just to distract themselves. It also appears very elegant and cool.
I found the story more engaging in the first part. The second was a bit too action-heavy for me – the many fight scenes left little room for quiet moments and logical conclusions. I missed the build-up to the events, which left me feeling lost because I didn’t know exactly why the characters were doing something. The jumps were too radical for me, and I often couldn’t understand why something was happening.
All in all, it was still a very good film series. Not outstanding, but good. I can’t say exactly what it was, but I often felt something was missing.
