The GR34 is usually a good choice for a hike. Especially when the sun is shining, as on this day. After days of gray and rainy weather, the joy for this walk is all the greater. And we are not disappointed. Neither by the weather nor the route.

From the tiny parking lot — a small gravel area right next to a narrow country road — it’s less than five minutes before we reach the coast and thus the GR34. A brilliantly blue sky stretches over the flat blue water of the large bay, with the coast of the Crozon peninsula visible on the opposite side. Still hidden behind a hazy veil, it won’t be revealed until later, when we are already on our way back, unveiled by the high-standing sun. For now, only the outlines are recognizable.

The view of the sea and the path that winds along the rocky coastline is clear, however. I chose a route that we walk in the same direction both out and back for a simple reason: I want to see the sea, hear it, and smell it. And it doesn’t disappoint me. It fulfills these wishes from the first moment and keeps them alive until the end.

I love this landscape and I love this path, the GR34. I don’t know how many kilometers we have already covered with it. Not enough yet, never sufficient. Fortunately, it is so long that we will probably never manage to walk it completely in our lifetime. Even though that is one of my greatest wishes.

Today I am happy. I can leave the darkness of the past days and weeks behind me and enjoy the moment. It is a path that is partly demanding, partly somewhat difficult. Sometimes muddy, but often easily walkable. The sea is always at our side. Sometimes we walk across a wide steppe, sometimes through a patch of forest, and occasionally through bushes that have wound themselves into a tunnel. Yes, I am happy. Happy to be able to be here and experience this.
